Wonderfully Lost, Again - Sarlat, Brocante, churches, chateaus, store

Kathy and Mom shopped in Sarlat in the morning while I stayed in to write.  After they had made their purchases, they picked me up and we had lunch there but again the food was not what we were expecting.  Our "well done" burgers were almost completely raw! Kathy shopped for jewelry and purchased a silver necklace. Shocking, I know.

I stooped to take a sip of refreshing water from this old French fountain, then Kathy and Mom both gasped and screamed "No!"  Too late, I had already taken a drink.

We then stopped at a coiffier and made an appointment for Kathy to get her hair cut.  (so she can say she flew to France to get her hair done).

Do I dare?!?!

We decided to find the brocante in a nearby town that our neighbor Margot told us about.  Of course……Ferme'  (closed).  So frustrating, but we took down the phone number to make an appointment.  Oh I am going to like this place.  We walked around the outside, looking at all the  massive old rusty iron gates and huge chandeliers that are so huge, they surely had to have been in Castles at one time.

Kathy, happy in her floppy hat, at the Brocante

We decided to have one of our “wonderfully lost” adventures, this time aided by our sometimes friend the GPS lady.  Searching for attractions, "she" led us to a couple of beautiful old churches.  One of them had a quaint old drinking fountain.  I leaned down to take a sip.  Mom and Kathy yelled "stop!"  They were worried that I'd pick up a parasite or disease of some sort.  It probably wasn't the smartest thing I'd ever done, but the cold cold water tasted wonderful.

We came upon a lovely castle, high upon a steep hill with  cows and sheep roaming around it.  It was a private castle so we appreciated it from afar.

 Chateau Bannes, someone's personal place

On the way home we stopped at a gift shop in one of the little towns.  The shop keepers were so kind, offering to take our pictures though he spoke no English at all.  Through hand gestures and smiles, we strangers from other lands figured it out together.  :)

Further along we began looking for a little restaurant to have some dinner.  We saw a beautiful Chateau with a long tree lined driveway, we walked through the huge iron gate and entered a wonderfully manicured garden.  After looking at the menu and finding no food that mom and I could eat and prices ranging from 37 to 84 euros per entrée, we decided to drive to drive a little further to a little pizzeria in St. Cypien that we had been told about.  Delicious!
